High school boys golf league championship tournaments were contested last week throughout the Inland Empire.
Here are some results from some of those league finals that were submitted by Inland coaches.
AMBASSADOR LEAGUE
Linfield Christian’s Luke Bohmer won the title after back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2022 and 2023.
BASELINE LEAGUE
Andy Lu of Los Osos shot matching rounds of 1-over 71 to win the Baseline League title at Jurupa Hills Country Club in Riverside.
Rancho Cucamonga’s Gavin Sanchez was second with a 150 (72-78).
The top seven golfers advance to the CIF Southern Section’s Central Regional on May 6 at Bear Valley Country Club in Victor Valley.
The other five moving on were Hayden Beltran of Chino Hills (76-78-154), the Los Osos trio of Jonathan Nolasco (79-76-155), Preston Brown (78-77-155) and Noah Monsafe (82-74-156) and Keshav Joshi of Chino Hills (80-76-156).
BIG VIII LEAGUE
Norco’s Baron Nguyen claimed the league title with a 6-under 140 ay the two-day event at Los Serranos Golf Club in Chino Hills.
Nguyen carded a 2-under 71 on the North Course on the first day and followed that with a 4-under 69 on the South Course to seal the win and earn BIg VIII League Most Valuable Golfer honors.
Roosevelt’s Remington Ly finished second with a 4-over 150, and King’s Harlan Yapa placed third with a 5-over 151.
The top eight finishers advanced to the Central Regional qualifier.
The other eight golfers who advanced were King’s Trever Lauritzen (155), Roosevelt’s Ashton Spaulding (161), Norco’s Matthew Flicker (161), Santiago’s Rohan Mehtani (162) and King’s Cade Morganti (163).
CITRUS BELT LEAGUE
Yucaipa’s Tyler Price finished with a 4-over 148 over two days at Tukwet Canyon’s Champions Course in Beaumont to win the title.
Liam Hartling of Redlands was second with a score of 153 (80-73).
The league’s top six golfers advanced to the Central Regional qualifier.
Yucaipa’s Eli Gonzales (79-77-156), Blake Richert (82-75-157) and Seth Looy (84-80) are moving on, as is Cajon’s Kaden Allen (80-86-166).
SOUTHWESTERN LEAGUE
Chaparral’s Troy Song had a two-day score of 8-over-par 152 at Temecula Creek Inn to claim the Southwestern League title.
Song was third after shooting a 6-over 78 on the first day of the finals, but he bounced back with a 2-over 74 on the second day. Song had birdies at No. 5, No. 13 and No. 17, all par 5s.
Murrieta Valley’s Brayden Gilpin held a one-stroke lead after shooting a 4-over 76 in the opening round. He carded six birdies on the second day, but six bogeys and a pair of triple bogeys brought Gilpin’s final score to 154, two shots behind Song.
Chaparral’s Danny Tovar (81-74-155) and Temecula Valley’s Carson Escobedo (77-78-155) tied for fourth in the final standings.
The top 11 golfers advanced to Monday’s Central Region qualifier.
The other seven golfers moving were Temecula Valley’s Austin Smith (80-79-159), Vista Murrieta’s Shane Agundez 78-81-159), the Murrieta Valley trio of Clay Yarbro (79-80-159), Travis McSparrin (81-79-160) and Dominic Taverrite (81-80-161), Great Oak’s Koa Baur (83-79) and Chaparral’s Tyler Mesere (80-83-163).
