Several masked people burst into a Redlands home early Sunday, May 12, prompting one resident to fight off the intruders using a cane, the Redlands Police Department said Monday.

The crime happened around 1 a.m. in the 700 block of Concord Lane. Four or five people kicked open a rear door, setting off an alarm, a police news release said.

They confronted the residents, one of whom wielded a cane. They then went upstairs and woke the couple’s adult son and forced him downstairs.

The burglars left after a few minutes without taking anything, the release said. They remained at large on Monday.

One resident was injured when she tripped and hit her head while trying to get away from the intruders. She was hospitalized.

Police ask anyone with information on the crime or any other suspicious activity to call 909-798-7681, ext. 1.
