The shooting death of a man in Chino on Monday was related to a family dispute involving the victim and his stepson, police said Wednesday.

The Chino Police Department also identified the suspect as Jakari Curry, 18, of Chino, and the victim as Timothy Matthews, 34, of Chino.

On Monday, May 13, at around 9:45 a.m., Chino Police officers responded to a reported at an apartment complex on the 5700 block of Riverside Drive in Chino.

Officers found Matthews suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene, a Chino Police Department statement said.

According to Chino Police, Curry was arrested at the scene of the shooting on suspicion of murder.

Chino Police learned Matthews was the stepfather of Curry, and a family dispute led to the shooting, Wednesday’s statement said.
