John C. Donahue OBITUARY

John C. Donahue died on February 17, 2024 in Richmond, VA. He was the son of Harry O. and Catherine Donahue of San Bernardino and West Covina, CA. John was born on May 5, 1943 in Detroit, MI. He moved with his family to San Bernardino, CA in 1948. John attended grade school at St. Anne’s Catholic School. He graduated from Aquinas High School and was a member of their football team. He also participated in city league teams including Pony League baseball and Pop Warner football. John attended San Bernardino Valley College for a short time.John served in the U.S. National Guard. He was employed at Kaiser Steel in Fontana, CA and afterwards he was employed in construction. Later, John earned a license as a Substance Abuse Counselor for the state of Missouri and worked with the Missouri Department of Corrections for several years. He then moved to Arkansas where he worked as a licensed substance abuse counselor and supervisor for the Arkansas Department of Corrections based in Benton, AR. John retired from the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He is survived by five brothers and sisters and two of their spouse/partners: Maureen Dunlop of Norman, AR; Dan Donahue of Lacey, WA; Cathie Caporaso of Mission Viejo, CA; Norah Donahue and Frank Hoerndorf, of Bella Vista, AR, and Henry and Peggy Donahue of Richmond, VA. John was proud to have many nieces and nephews. He was a loving son, brother and uncle. He will always be held closely in our memories and our hearts!John had strong ties to California. There will be a memorial service in his honor on his birthday, May 5, 2024 (Cinco De Mayo) at St. Francis by the Sea, 430 Park Ave., Laguna Beach, CA. Afterwards, there will be a celebration of John’s life at the house of his sister, Cathie (Donahue) Caporaso, 22922 Pocetas, Mission Viejo, CA. (949) 533-5697.
